Jessica Lander

Jessica Lander is a teacher and writer living in Cambridge. Over the past six years, she has taught students in middle grade, high school, and university in the United States, Thailand, and Cambodia. As a practicing journalist, she writes op-eds about education policy for the Boston GlobeHarvard Graduate School of Education’s Usable Knowledge, and The Huffington Post among other publications. She is the co-author of Powerful Partnerships: A Teacher’s Guide to Engaging Families for Student Success and the author of Driving Backwards, an award-winning nonfiction portrait of a small town in New Hampshire. She was awarded the Richard Aieta Award for Promising Young Teacher in Social Studies by the Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies (2016) and Massachusetts Teacher Change Maker of the Year by Generation Citizen. Lander currently serves as a member of the Teacher Advisory Cabinet of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She earned her AB in anthropology from Princeton University and her EdM in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
