Carol Anderson

Carol Anderson has become  an important voice in the American discourse on race with her writing, her work in academia, and, most recently, her award-winning book, White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. The 2016 book was a National Book Critics Circle Award winner, a New York Times bestseller, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, a Washington Post Notable Nonfiction Book of the Year, a Boston Globe Best Book of 2016, and a Chicago Review of Books Best Nonfiction Book of 2016. She is also the author of Eyes Off the Prize: The United Nations and the African-American Struggle for Human Rights, 1944–1955 (2003)—which was awarded both the Gustavus Myers and Myrna Bernath Book Awards—and Bourgeois Radicals: The NAACP and the Struggle for Colonial Liberation, 1941–1960 (2014). Anderson is also the Charles Howard Candler Professor of African American Studies at Emory University, where she researches public policy and race. For her work as a teacher and researcher, she has received the Crystal Apple Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education, William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence, and the Mizzou Class of ‘39 Outstanding Faculty Award, among others, and she has received a number of fellowships and grants.
