Esther Perel is a master of navigating the perils of long-term romantic relationships and has helped many couples the world over through her private practice, her talks, and her writing. Born in Belgium, she earned degrees in Jerusalem and in the United States. In the first two decades of her career as a couples’ therapist, she focused on couples in cultural transition and all of the difficulties that can cause. Her first book, Mating in Captivity: Unlocking Erotic Intelligence (2006), catapulted her into international fame and shifted her focus to intimacy in marriage. Since then, the book has been translated into twenty-five languages, and Perel has traveled the world giving talks, including two TED talks. She also hosts an Audible podcast, Where Should We Begin? Her latest book is The State of Affairs: Rethinking Infidelity, which expands on the material covered in one of her TED talks.
