From her award-winning books to her website Diversity in YA, Malinda Lo has become a strong voice for the underrepresented in young adult fiction. Her debut novel, Ash, a lesbian retelling of the Cinderella tale, was named a Kirkus Best Book for Children and Teens and was a finalist for the William C. Morris YA Debut Award, the Andre Norton Award for YA Science Fiction and Fantasy, and the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award. Prior to publishing Ash, she was a managing editor for the queer women’s entertainment site AfterEllen.com. She won the Sarah Petit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Journalism for her work on the site. She has also written Huntress (2011), the companion to Ash; Adaptation (2012); and Inheritance (2013). She is one of several authors who contributed to Tremontaine, a serial prequel to Ellen Kushner’s Riverside series. Her most recent novel is A Line in the Dark.
