Mindy Fried

Mindy Fried is a sociologist, author, and educator with thirty years of experience conducting research, teaching, and doing policy analysis on work and organizational issues. Her latest book is Caring for Red: A Daughter’s Memoir, a memoir of caring for her father in the last year of his life. She is also the author of Taking Time (1998), which deals with parental leave policy and corporate culture. Mindy blogs at “Mindy’s Muses” and is also a co-producer of the annual Jamaica Plain Porchfest and co-director of its umbrella organization, Hoopla Productions. She is Principal of Arbor Consulting Partners, where she helps organizations strengthen their programs and policies through research and strategic planning. Fried has taught courses on public policy, work, and gender at MIT, Brandeis, Tufts, and Boston College. She presents her research widely, including at meetings of the American Sociological Association and Sociologists for Women in Society.
